Updated: May 14, 2018

Cuisine

Dzūkija's regional culinary specifics contain lots of potatoes and dishes of mushrooms found in local forests. For instance, mushroom soup, mushroom cheese, mushroom pickles, stewed mushrooms, mushroom pies, etc. Buns of Dzūkija is the pride of the region. It’s a traditional buckwheat pancake on cabbage leaves. Yet this region is well-known for various pies with forest berries.

Tourism

While visiting Dzūkija, you should definitely see Čepkeliai Marsh, which is the largest swamp in Lithuania ( located south of Marcinkonys village and north of Kotra River, which flows along the Belarus-Lithuania border in this area).

Lithuania's capital Vilnius and the historical capital Trakai are also absolutely worth your visit. You should visit the breathtaking valleys of Merkys, Ūla, Grūda, Skroblus rivers, the surroundings of Musteikos and Pavilnio rivulets.
